About Us

NAFTA Production s.r.o. deals with the extraction of oil and natural gas (hydrocarbons) in Slovakia. We have been operating for a long time in the Vienna Basin, the Danube Basin and the East Slovak Plain, where the most important regional hydrocarbon deposits are located. Even though the potential of these areas has been used through long-term activity, we are constantly working to preserve this specific industry in Slovakia.

Domestic resource extraction has multiple meanings and can benefit the entire society. These mainly include the diversification of the country's energy resources and consumption directly near mining, when it is not necessary to transport the product thousands of kilometers by pipelines or tankers. Finally, it is a higher protection of the environment and the possibility to supervise the implementation of mining in compliance with domestic and European legal regulations and standards.

The need for mining of local resources is an important topic in the EU, its increase, or maintaining the current level of extraction contributes to the security of supply and increasing the countries' energy self-sufficiency.

If you use gas for heating, you help reduce emissions. In addition, unlike wood, burning gas does not produce solid particles that can harm our health.

Among other things, for example, in toothpastes, sunglasses, outdoor clothing or nail polishes.

• Did you know that gas saves human health?

From the substances present in natural gas, not only classic medicines such as aspirin are produced, but also artificial limbs or even artificial heart valves.

• Did you know that using gas as fuel can be more environmentally friendly?

In the world, up to 15 million cars, buses, taxis and trucks run on compressed natural gas (CNG), which is more friendly not only to the economy, but above all to nature.

• Did you know that Slovakia is among the European leaders in gasification?

Slovakia is second only to the Netherlands in gasification. Currently, the natural gas distribution network in Slovakia has more than 33,000 kilometers of gas pipelines, and gas is used by 77% of the municipalities in which more than 94% of the population lives.

• Did you know that oil and gas have been extracted in Slovakia for more than 100 years?

Oil has been extracted on our territory since 1914, natural gas since 1950. Since the beginning of hydrocarbon extraction, approximately 26.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.7 million tons of oil have been extracted in Slovakia.
